There are the following problems when OLP boards are used to provide optical line protection:When the FIU board is deployed on the line, the optical line protection group using the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board can only protect the optical transmission section (OTS), and it cannot protect the optical multiplex section (OMS).When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board.
Product Line: Transport network product line Product Family: DWM
[Problem Description]
Trigger condition:
Problem 1: The TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board cannot be used to protection the OMS.
This problem occurs in either of the following scenarios:
l During network deployment, the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board is equipped with OMS optical line protection.
l On the live network, the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board is originally equipped with OTS optical line protection, which is later changed to OMS optical line protection.

Figure 2 OMS optical line protection networking
Problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board.
Symptom:
l Symptom of problem 1: When the line is normal, the OMS optical line protection group configured using the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board frequently perform protection switching sometimes.
l Symptom of problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board
Identification method:
l For problem 1: Check whether the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board is equipped with OMS optical line protection.
l For problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board
[Root Cause]
l For problem 1: In the OMS optical line protection scenario, the input power for the RI1 and RI2 ports on the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board will easily exceed +7 dBm. Therefore, the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board cannot be used to protect an OMS.
In an OTS optical line protection scenario, the input power for the RI1 and RI2 ports on the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board must be less than or equal to +7 dBm.
l For problem 2: NA
[Impact and Risk]
l Impact and risk brought by problem 1: When the line is normal, the OMS optical line protection group configured using the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board may perform protection switching frequently.
l Impact and risk brought by problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board
[Measures and Solutions]
Recovery measures:
l For problem 1: None
l For problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board
Workarounds:
None
Preventive measures:
l For problem 1, take the following preventive measures:
− When using the TN11OLP01/TN11OLP02/TN12OLP01 board to configure optical line protection, select the OTS scenario.
− If OMS optical line protection must be configured, use the TN12OLP03.
l For problem 2: When the SFIU board is deployed on the line to provide single-fiber bidirectional transmission, the optical line protection group must use the TN12OLP04 board.
If the DCP and OLP boards used on the live network have the issues mentioned in [TN-P-201247] Notice on Precaution for Abnormal Switching on the VER.F DCP and OLP Boards That Use an Earlier Version Logic-20120910-A, perform an upgrade by following the instructions in this notice.
