The intra-board 1+1 protection switching fails on the OptiX OSN 1800 after a change of the NE ID.
Symptom
On a ring comprised of the OptiX OSN 1800, the LDGF boards of NE A and NE D are configured with intra-board 1+1 protection for the services transmitted between NE A and NE D. After a fiber cut occurs between NE A and NE D, no switching is performed on NE D. As a result, services are interrupted and NE D becomes unreachable to the T2000.
Intra-board 1+1 protection involves: Active path: A (3-LDGF-1) - D (4-LDGF-1), Standby path: A (3-LDGF-2) - B - C - D (4-LDGF-2).
Cause Analysis
After a fiber cut occurs between NE A and NE D, no switching is performed on NE D. As a result, services are interrupted and NE D becomes unreachable to the T2000. The possible causes of the fault are as follows:
- The protection group is incorrectly configured.
- The protection group is abnormal.
- The software is abnormal.
Procedure
- On the T2000, query the status of the protection group on NE D. The name of protection group is "NE-1 beyond management domain". It can be inferred that the NE ID is changed after the protection group is configured. Therefore, the protection group is abnormal and no switching can be performed.
- Query the NE software version. The NE software version of NE D is 5.67.01.11. This version requires that all protection groups be deleted before the NE ID is changed.
- Delete the protection group and configure it again. Then, NE D is always reachable to the T2000, services are restored, and the protection group is normal. In addition, the active path and standby path are normal, and the services are transmitted over the standby path.
