The services cannot be provisioned and the LWX2 boards report the R_LOC alarm due to incorrect service rates on LWX2 board of OptiX OSN 1800.
Symptom
The OptiX OSN 1800 is used to build a metropolitan WDM network in counties. Between two sites, the LWX2 boards are used to transmit STM-16 services. After the client-side interfaces on the LWX2 boards are interconnected with the SDH equipment, the R_LOC alarm is reported on the client side and the WDM side of the LWX2 boards, and the R_LOS alarm is reported on the SDH equipment. In addition, services are unavailable.
Figure 1 shows the network topology.
Cause Analysis
The possible causes of the fault are as follows:
- The optical power is unnormal.
- The service rates of the LWX2 board are incorrectly set.
Procedure
- Measure the input power and output power of the LWX2 boards by using the optical power meter. The measured values are normal.
- Query the basic attributes of the optical interfaces on the LWX2 board on the T2000. It is found that the service rates are set to the default value 2667.0 Mbit/s (OTU1 level) for the client-side and WDM-side optical interfaces of the LWX2 board.
- Change the service rates to 2488.3 Mbit/s (STM-16) for the client-side RX1/TX1 optical interface, but retain the service rate of 2667.0 Mbit/s for the WDM-side optical interface, because the optical interfaces on the WDM side transmit services transparently. However, the fault persists.
- Change the service rate to 2488.3 Mbit/s for the WDM-side IN1/OUT1 optical interface. Then, the fault is rectified and services are available.
Reference Information
Conclusions and suggestions for this case are as follows:
- Although the LWX2 board transmits services transparently, the service rates for the client-side and WDM-side optical interfaces need to be set separately on the T2000. That is, if the service rate on one side is changed, the service rate on the other side is not changed accordingly. Therefore, service rates need to be set to the rates of received services. (Note: After the NE software is upgraded to a version later than 5.67.01.22, the service rates on the client side are associated with those on the WDM side. That is, if you change the service rate for a client-side optical interface, the service rate for the corresponding WDM-side optical interface is changed to the same value automatically.)
- When functioning as a wavelength conversion board, the LWX2 board can receive services of a rate from 42 Mbit/s to 2.7 Gbit/s. The T2000 does not provide rate options, so the rates of received services need to be entered on the T2000. The following table lists the rates of common services.
